General Manager of China, India & Head of Audiences, Product & Innovation, AFL
David Stevenson is the General Manager of China, India & Head of Audiences, Products & Innovation. In this role David is primary responsible for the AFL’s growth agenda by leading Audience Growth with Marketing, Communications, PR, Kids, Growth in Products through AFL, AFLW, AFLX, Auskick & E-Sports and Growth in markets with a focus on NSW, Queensland, China & India.
Over the last 2.5 years, David has led the AFL, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast and St Kilda teams to develop and execute the AFL’s China game, becoming the first major professional sporting code to do play a regular competition game in mainland China. The first game in 2017 was the most watched AFL game in history.
Previously, David was CEO of the Western Bulldogs, which he helped to the 2016 AFL Premiership. Prior to his time at the Western Bulldogs, David had a 17-year career at Nike with eight years overseas with his last role as Vice President & General Manager of the commercial business across 156 countries.
