Mark Fischer has enjoyed more than two decades of building successful sports and media businesses in China and other key markets in Asia. Mark now runs Eastbridge Sports Management, providing sports advisory and business development services to brands and rights-holders seeking to exploit the growing power of sports in China and vicinity. Mark is also co-founder and executive director of Playmaker Kids Ltd, a creator of gamified sports learn-and-play centers for children and their families, scheduled to launch in Shanghai in Fall 2019.
Mark’s previous career highlights include a series of leadership roles at the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Asia from 1997-2009. As Managing Director of NBA China from 2003-2008, Mark grew the China team and revenues each 40 times, from a two-person startup in 2003 to a valuation of $2.3 billion in 2008. Later as EVP & MD Asia for the Ultimate Fighting Championship / Zuffa LLC from 2010-2014, Mark established the UFC’s operations in the Far East, drove 10-fold increases in both audience and revenues, organized Zuffa’s first six live events in the region, and produced the first Ultimate Fighter China reality TV series.
Mark meanwhile serves as Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Committee for American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and advisory board member for the University of Michigan Sports Management program. Proficient in Mandarin Chinese, the Boston native earned his Master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan.
